Gywie
A young girl rushes towards the river, her blonde curls bouncing around her impish grin. She can hear the whisper voices. They’re talking about her new friend, the one who went on an adventure. Her blue eyes are captivated with the distant mountain peaks, shimmering white with fresh snow. As snowflakes begin to drift down around her, she throws off her yellow cloak and looks to the sky. She’s going on an adventure too…
What stands out most about Gywie are her eyes. They’re blue as the sky, wide as the ocean, and open as the spaces between. They take in everything with fearless delight. She has nothing to hide, not even from strangers, and possesses little inhibitions when it comes to getting up close and personal with new fiends – because of course, you must want to be her friend, right?
Gywie loves attention and is not afraid to use her sweet smile and charming laugh to keep at the center of it. And if that fails, there is always the direct approach. She’ll call your name, tug your sleeve, or scream if she has to – whatever it takes to get as much time and attention as you can possibly bestow. Give in, and you’ll enter her world of pebbles and stories and crazy drawings all over the floor.
The most beautiful thing about Gywie is her imagination. Reality is a heavy burden, demanding far more of her than any child should have to give. But as our main character soon discovers, much can be accomplished by directing this sweet girl back into her imagination and convincing her that everything will be alright.
